Spotlight Theater Company

Children's Dance Theater offers instruction in the Theater Arts as well as dance. If your child is acting, singing and dancing all over the house then you need to give the Spotlight Theater Company a try.

Our Theater program produces three musicals throughout the year. These musicals are date specific, and actors can sign up for one session or multiple. Each session includes a performance opportunity. Actors are expected to provide their own costume within the guidelines given by the director and dance shoes will be required.

Musical theater actors are often referred to as triple threats, meaning they can act, sing and dance.  Actors who are looking to start or further their skills. We recommended 2 hours of lessons in addition to their production rehearsals. If you are in our conservatory program no further dance lessons are required for those classes. If you are not currently enrolled in dance lessons, look at our school division class options. You can choose from tap, hip hop, ballet, jazz and more. Class levels are beginning, intermediate and open. An open level means all ages and experience levels are welcome.

Set sail with this classic comedy that boasts one of the most famous patter songs in musical theatre history. The wit and whimsy of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic score is suffused with a modern sensibility in The Pirates of Penzance JR., a swashbuckling musical journey! Set on the rocky coast of Cornwall, England, The Pirates of Penzance JR. begins with a group of pirates who are celebrating the birthday of one of their own, Frederic, who has reached his 21st year. Finally having served the full length of his required time with the pirates, he decides to strike off on his own and become an upstanding citizen – which may even mean bringing the pirates to justice. Thus turns out to be a tricky prospect indeed, especially when Frederic's freedom is called into question!
